ITSC provides E-mail service for students and staff.
An e-mail service is the major communication link between campus and student. It is one of the channels for the campus to broadcast any important message or notice to the students. Students need to check their mail box regularly to read the information from the campus promptly.
The new staff email accounts are transacted by HR office.The person responsible in HR send the new staff's information to ITSC.
ITSC activates their email accounts accordingly.
The dismissed staff have to handle procedures for deleting mail account when leaving, and get the stamp of approval from ITSC before demission; otherwise ITSC will not take the responsibility if any disputes occurred.

Each student will be assigned an email account. The email address format is as follows(e.g.):
s2xxxxxxxx@mail.uic.edu.cn (for 2022 students)
r1xxxxxxxx@mail.uic.edu.cn (for 2021 students)
Ways for login to the email system:
Access the web mail system via entering the URL address: http://webmail.uic.edu.cn/ or from the home page (http://uic.edu.cn) click the "Students" on the top of the page and login via Portal .
User ID is ‘s2xxxxxxxx', where xxxxxxxx are the last 8 digits of a student ID number.
Default password is the student National ID, HKID or Macau ID number.
Student can change the email account settings such as language, signature,etc. when successfully login the system.
Please be reminded that any unwanted mail in the mail box and trash box needs to be cleaned up regularly to avoid overflow problem which means important message may be missed.
We would also like to advice the students not to open any message from unknown sources. It can be malicious and contain virus.

Fill out "Unit Mail Account Application Form" on Portal. Get the approvals from leaders of both the department and ITSC.
Several public email aliases have been created in ITSC to facilitate in group communication in campus. To avoid abuse of email aliases, only the authorized staff are granted the full access of the aliases.
Please contact ITSC for the list of email aliases.
ITSC and HR reserve the right for authorized the full access of the public email aliases.
The full access of the public email aliases is only automatically granted to some staff groups
Other staff who require the access right need to apply from ITSC and get an approval from HR office.
Authorized staff must not abuse the email aliases and no spam mails are allowed.
Complete the "Public Mail Aliases Access Right Application (Termination) Form"
Get an approval from your unit head.
Submit to ITSC for approval.
Spam email filter has been applied to email system. It helps detect and protect users from junk email, fraudulent email threats (phishing) and virus.
